Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education seeks a Special Education Teacher for our elementary learning centers, delivering individualized instruction aligned with IEPs and state standards. You will design dynamic lessons, integrate educational software, and collaborate with staff to support student growth.

The role emphasizes PBIS-driven classroom management, differentiating instruction, and ongoing professional development within ChanceLight’s supportive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or related field.
• IL PEL credential either current or in process.
• IL SSE or LBS1 credential in process.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development and differentiation in alternative or behavioral health settings.
• Experience with IEPs and compliance for students with disabilities.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to act calmly in emergencies.
• Knowledge of MS Office and educational software.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive classroom environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Implement PBIS strategies and reinforce behavior expectations.
• Track student progress and generate reports on achievements.
• Deliver differentiated instruction to meet IEP goals.
• Develop individualized lesson plans and schedules.
• Adapt curricula for diverse learning styles.
• Use educational software to support student learning.
• Manage student caseloads with IEPs and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans and organize materials.
