Job summary

The YWCA of Western Massachusetts seeks a Direct Service Advocate for a part-time night shift (Friday/Saturday, 11pm-7am) with a starting rate of $21.00 per hour plus a 1.25 shift differential. This role supports adult, teen, and child participants in residential programs, providing advocacy and crisis intervention as part of a trauma-informed service model.

The DSA will work with a team of peers, supervisors, clinicians, and community partners to ensure safe, high-quality services.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree plus 1–3 years of experience in human services.
• Experience in residential setting preferred.
• Familiarity with issues of domestic violence.
• Ability to represent agency in a union environment.
• Reliable transportation, safe driving record, and valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shelter intakes as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Help residents become acquainted with shelter and other residents upon arrival.
• Provide counseling to resident upon arrival and as needed throughout their stay.
• Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the facility and property.
• Ensure residents are following shelter schedule, including wake up times as applicable.
• Enforce shelter rules and guidelines.
• Engage with residents at meal time and ensure that residents clean up their area prior to leaving dining area.
• Ensure completion of chores as applicable.
• Complete all required paperwork and maintain client records.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
