Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in instructional activities and classroom operations. The IA will work with students in various school levels, assist in planning lessons, and help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with potential for Title I requirements. CPI certification may be needed; training will be provided by WCPSS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education for Title I schools or two years in a childhood setting.
• CPI certification may be required; CPI training provided by WCPSS.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
• Plan with teachers, prepare materials, and ensure needed resources are available.
• Demonstrate professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Work with individuals or groups of students as directed by teachers.
• Participate in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintain composure and good judgment when dealing with students.
• May conduct vision/hearing screenings using EASi; training provided.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
