Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to provide instructional and administrative support across elementary, middle, or high school sites. The IA will assist teachers, adapt to diverse learners, and help maintain a safe, encouraging classroom environment.

The role requires a high school diploma and may require Title I qualifications or CPI certification. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, with some evenings and weekends possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• ESSA Title I schools require six semester hours in childhood education or two years of childhood work experience.
• CPI certification may be required; CPI training provided by WCPSS.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
• Supports planning, organizing, and preparing materials according to lesson plans.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or groups across classrooms and activities.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains composure and good judgment around students.
• May conduct vision and hearing screenings with training.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
