Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA assists in instructional activities, prepares materials, and collaborates with teachers to reinforce learning goals.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with additional coursework in childhood education or relevant experience. Expect a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours in childhood education or two years of childhood setting experience.
• Must meet ESSA requirements for Title I schools where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to teachers in classroom activities.
• Assists in planning, organizing, evaluating instructional activities, and preparing materials.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or groups in different areas as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and good judgment with students.
• May perform vision and hearing screenings and enter results in EASi.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
