Job summary

Wake County Public School System is hiring an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA will assist with instructional activities, materials, and administrative tasks while promoting a safe, encouraging learning environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with TITLE I schooling options possible; CPI training may be provided as needed. U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Title I requirements may apply for TITLE I schools.
• Six documented semester hours of coursework in childhood education, OR two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
• CRTI: CPI certification may be required; CPI training provided through WCPSS.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities and support the school program.
• Aid teachers in planning, organizing, and preparing materials for lessons.
• Support individual students or groups as directed.
• Participate in district staff development and ongoing growth.
• Maintain positive discipline and student safety at all times.
• Assist with vision/hearing screenings as needed and document results.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners.
