Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom activities, assist licensed teachers, and work with students in diverse settings. The role emphasizes collaboration, planning, and implementing strategies to reinforce skills per lesson plans.

The IA will help prepare materials, monitor student progress, and participate in staff development, ensuring a safe and encouraging classroom environment for all students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Title I schools require ESSA-based qualifications: six college hours in childhood education, or two years of childhood setting experience.
• CPI certification may be required by principal for CPI needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance with activities and duties that implement the total school program and assist teachers.
• Aids teachers with planning, organizing, evaluating instructional activities, and preparing materials.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and good judgment when dealing with students.
