Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant (IA) to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high schools. The IA will help implement instructional activities, prepare materials, and reinforce skills as directed by licensed teachers and administrators.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• For Title I schools: ESSA requirements apply.
• Six semester hours in childhood education or two years of childhood work experience required for Title I schools.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to teachers and students.
• Assists in planning and organizing instructional activities and materials.
• Demonstrates professional/technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and good judgment around students.
• May conduct vision/hearing screenings and enter results in electronic records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
