Qualifications

Responsibilities

Salary: $42,000 - $45,000

Job Functions:

This position provides intensive employment case management to families that are being served in the community.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Completes an employment assessment of all clients entering the Community-Based Programs seeking employment by identifying their knowledge, skills, abilities, and needs. Ensures assessments of clients’ education, work experience, skills, abilities, qualifications, and job interest; assesses clients' readiness for job referral, classroom training, on-the-job training, and support services; attempts to match clients with available employment or other opportunities/services with collaborating agencies.
2. Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on his/her caseload. Provides individualized follow‑along support to help clients maintain employment.
3. Supports clients interested in furthering their education to enhance employment opportunities.
4. Manages a designated caseload while providing job readiness and retention coaching. Focuses on helping clients strengthen soft and hard skills, obtain higher‑paying jobs, and develop sustainable career paths.
5. Establishes and maintains relationships with employers, developing a minimum of six new employer contacts per month to expand job opportunities for clients.
6. Facilitates employment‑related classes, workshops, and presentations within the community as needed.
7. Provides transportation for clients to employment‑related activities and agency events as assigned.
8. Keeps detailed records of every case, client visit, referral, and contacts with resources on the client’s behalf. Ensures that records, reports, and documentation are created promptly. Safeguards client confidentiality and ensures that all records are accurate and objective.
9. Generates and compiles client outcomes and reports within the HMIS database and Excel spreadsheets for reporting to funders.
10. Provides training, guidance, and supervision to interns or volunteers as assigned, ensuring compliance with program standards and quality service delivery.
11. Actively participates in Metropolitan Ministries’ community initiatives, including holiday efforts, Bridge Builders, and other organizational events as needed.
12. Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the KPI and in the annual plan. Attends required staff meetings and on‑going trainings. Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Four (4) years of directly related experience in employment services, workforce development, career counseling/coaching, case management, vocational services, or a related field may substitute for a bachelor’s degree. Qualifying experience must demonstrate skills in client assessment, employment planning, barrier resolution, job readiness, placement services, resource coordination, case documentation, and participant follow‑up.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of case management experience in addition to a Bachelors degree OR the equivalent four years of professional experience required. Preference given for case management work in employment services or workforce development.

Skills Requirements:

Requires heart for ministry. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter‑personal skills and the ability to work with low socio‑economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Ability to deescalate clients on the edge of verbal or physical violence. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi‑disciplinary framework. Demonstrates computer literacy with knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Requires oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports and conduct and participate in meetings.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information with or without accommodation. Must be capable of working outdoors in sunlight and higher temperatures on occasion. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job‑related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. or more.

Other:

Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must pass required background pre‑employment screening. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Requires a valid driver’s license and car, a clean driving record and the ability to qualify for the Ministries’ driving program.
