Job summary

Norfolk State University seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to support the HR department as an assistant to the Employee Relations and Engagement Manager. You will assist with policy administration, intake for employee relations matters, and investigations of workplace concerns.

The role involves collaboration with the ER Manager, conducting interviews, presenting findings, and designing/ delivering trainings for university staff and faculty.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
• Progressive experience in employee relations, HR, or related field.
• Experience conducting employee relations investigations and interviews.
• Experience providing effective training.
• Ethical handling of confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with HR policy administration and intake for employee relations matters.
• Collaborate with ER Manager to address workplace disputes and misconduct.
• Conduct investigations and fact-finding interviews; present findings and recommendations.
• Monitor trends from investigations and provide data to ER Manager.
• Assist with performance management and corrective action documents.
• Assist with employee grievance administration.
• Design and deliver in-person or virtual employee relations training.
• Conduct exit interviews and provide data for organizational improvements.
• Maintain accuracy of employee relations records.
• Back-up to ER Manager as needed.
