Job summary

Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO is hiring an Employee Relations Manager to lead the employee relations function and partner with leaders across the organization to improve performance, engagement, and culture.

You will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer, support a 500+ employee organization, and influence leadership through coaching, policy development, and investigations. This is a chance to shape a proactive, compliant HR program in a mission-driven utility.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws
• Management and supervisory principles
• MS Office software and general office processes
• Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion
• Coaching employees on performance management and feedback
• Guiding employees and supervisors through performance improvement plans
• Effective communication (written and oral)
• Ability to analyze performance data
• Ability to foster trust across organization
• Ability to train employees and supervisors

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource to employees and managers to foster positive working relationships by addressing workplace concerns, mediating conflicts, and coaching interactions.
• Advise and coach supervisors on corrective action related to performance concerns, ensuring development, review, and implementation of disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans.
• Oversee Metro’s performance management processes, documenting performance and career growth; conduct calibration meetings with supervisors.
• Review results from surveys and feedback, analyze data to identify trends, and coordinate follow-up actions with leadership.
• Coaching and training of supervisors on leadership techniques; facilitate Supervisory Academy and leadership training.
• Conduct investigations to address workplace concerns and coordinate responses to complaints (EEOC filings).
• Support new employee onboarding and orientation.
• Other duties as assigned.
