Job summary

Muskegon County HealthWest is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to handle conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, investigations, and accommodations. The role includes leaves of absence, organizational restructuring, and training HealthWest supervisory staff to strengthen competency.

You will work with the County HR Compliance Supervisor to ensure adherence to personnel rules and may participate in legal proceedings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Human Services with two years of employee/labor relations experience.
• Or a high school diploma with five years of employee/labor relations experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Handle conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, investigations, and requests for reasonable accommodations.
• Manage leaves of absence, FMLA, and organizational restructuring including position changes and layoffs for a non-union department.
• Train HealthWest supervisory staff in employee relations topics and mentor staff to ensure supervisory competency.
• Collaborate with Muskegon County HR Compliance Supervisor to ensure adherence to personnel rules and procedures.
• Gather information for subpoenas and participate in legal proceedings as required by HR leadership.
• Support a transparent, fair, and equitable employee relations process across the department.
