Muskegon County invites applications for an Employee Relations Specialist in the HealthWest department. This role handles conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and accommodations while guiding supervisory staff in employee relations topics.

The position partners with the HR Compliance Supervisor to ensure adherence to county rules, executes subpoenas when needed, and supports transformative staff development and fair processes across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Human Services plus two years of employee/labor relations experience.
• OR High school diploma with five years of employee/labor relations experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, investigations, reasonable accommodations, FMLA/leaves of absence, and program/team restructurings.
• Train HealthWest supervisory staff in employee relations topics, mentoring, coaching, and developing supervisory competency.
• Coordinate with the Muskegon County HR Compliance Supervisor to ensure compliance with county personnel rules and procedures.
• Gather information for subpoenas and participate in legal proceedings as requested by the HR Compliance Supervisor.
• Contribute to creating a transparent, fair, and equitable employee relations process and develop supervisory staff confidence in guidance and training from HR.

Education

Bachelor's degree + Human Resources/related field

High school diploma + 5 years experience
