Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring an Employee Assistance Program Counselor in Albuquerque, NM. This hybrid position delivers services remotely, in the office, and at client locations, supporting employees with assessments, brief therapy, coaching, and referrals.

The role involves training and collaboration with EAP staff to improve service quality and client experience. A master’s degree and licensure (LMHC or LMSW) are required, with CEAP preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field.
• Current LMHC or LMSW licensure required; LPCC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, PsyD preferred.
• Graduate training in mental health, substance use and brief therapy approaches.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates on team projects to strengthen EAP service delivery for employees and partners.
• Provides consultation to employees and organizations on workplace concerns.
• Partners with HR and leaders to coordinate referrals related to performance and workplace issues.
• Performs clinical assessments to evaluate risk and level of care for substances and mental health concerns.
• Facilitates on-site support after critical incidents, including debriefing and psychological first aid.
• Represents the EAP at health fairs and wellness events.
• Develops and presents EAP orientation sessions for staff and managers.

Summary:

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor serves as a key member of the EAP clinical team, providing confidential clinical services and program support to eligible employees and program participants. This hybrid position delivers services remotely, in the office, and at client locations through in-person, telephone, and video-based interactions.

The EAP Counselor supports individuals and groups through clinical assessments, brief solution-focused counseling, coaching, consultation, mediation, crisis response, and educational training. The counselor evaluates each client's needs and connects them with appropriate support through skill-building, case management, community resources, and referrals for longer-term therapy when needed.

This role also develops and presents training programs and collaborates with EAP clinical and administrative staff to improve operational efficiency, service quality, and the overall client experience.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborates on team projects designed to strengthen and improve EAP service delivery for employees, client organizations, and business partners.
• Provides consultation to employees and organizations regarding a variety of workplace concerns.
• Partners with Human Resources and organizational leaders to coordinate referrals related to employee performance and workplace concerns.
• Conducts clinical assessments to evaluate risk, substance use and dependency concerns, and the appropriate level of care.
• Facilitates on-site support for work teams following critical workplace incidents, including debriefing and psychological first aid.
• Represents the EAP at company health fairs and other employee-wellness events.
• Develops and presents EAP orientation sessions for employees and managers.
• Actively supports and collaborates with colleagues to foster a high-performing, team-oriented environment.
• Builds and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues across departments and organizational levels.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Licensure

• A master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field is required.
• Current licensure as an LMHC or LMSW, at minimum, is required. LPCC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, or PsyD credentials are preferred.
• Graduate or clinical training must include instruction in mental health, substance use and chemical dependency, and brief therapy approaches.

Preferred Experience and Credentials

• Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification, EAP knowledge or experience, or an interest in pursuing CEAP certification is preferred.
• Previous experience working or consulting in a business environment or Employee Assistance Program is preferred.
• Experience conducting substance use assessments and providing treatment planning and case management is preferred.
• Training or professional experience in mediation is preferred.
• Experience developing and delivering presentations or training programs is preferred.
• Bilingual candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, consultation, and negotiation skills are essential.
• Candidates must understand HIPAA and other applicable federal and state laws governing privacy, client confidentiality, duty to warn, and child and elder abuse reporting.
• Candidates must demonstrate sound knowledge of professional standards, ethics, informed consent, and appropriate release-of-information practices, particularly when managing workplace referrals.
