Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA IV) for the Affective Needs program at Mesa Middle School. You will provide intensive support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges, implementing crisis intervention and emotional regulation strategies.

Responsibilities include assisting the Special Education Teacher with IEP goals, facilitating restorative practices, and collecting daily behavior data to support student growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to remain calm, objective, and effective during student crises or high-stress behavioral situations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
• Willingness and ability to complete required crisis management training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Special Education Teacher with IEP goals for social, emotional, and academic development.
• Support students in accessing the curriculum and completing assignments with needed accommodations.
• Facilitate restorative practices and SEL groups as directed by staff.
• Provide emotional support and scaffolding to help transitions into general education.
• Collect and maintain daily data on student behavior and progress.
