Job summary

Douglas County School District seeks an Educational Assistant (EA IV) for the Home Base Program at Mesa Middle School. Under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher, you will support students with significant support needs across functional, academic, and life skills, including health-related tasks and mobility.

The role emphasizes safety, dignity, and independence, with 37.5 hours per week, 0.94 FTE, and a salary range of $19.84–$30.55 hourly.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or Equivalent (Required).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance).

Responsibilities

• Health, Mobility, & Safety: Assist with student positioning, transferring, and mobility using specialized equipment, and monitor health care procedures.
• Functional & Life Skills Support: Support IEP goals across academics, functional skills, communication, social skills, and vocational training.
• Health, Mobility, & Safety: Supervise transitions, meals, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and prevent injury.
