Job summary

Douglas County High School in Colorado seeks an Educational Assistant (EA IV) for student-specific 1:1 support. You will implement IEPs, BIPs, and HCPs, ensuring safety, instruction access, and full participation across settings.

Your role includes direct 1:1 support in various environments, crisis management, data collection, and assistive care, including lifting and mobility when needed. This is a full-time, 0.94 FTE position with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to complex and challenging student behaviors.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance).

Responsibilities

• Implement all academic accommodations, modifications as written in the student's current IEP.
• Provide direct 1:1 support to the student in the general education classroom, special education setting, and all non-instructional environments (e.g., lunch, recess, assemblies, field trips).
• Execute the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and crisis management strategies consistently across all settings, including instruction, transitions, and unstructured time.
• Facilitate peer interaction and social skills development by modeling appropriate social behaviors and supporting the student's successful participation in group activities.
• Physically assist the student with transitions between classes, activities, and locations within the school building and community.
• Collect and accurately record all required data on academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals, reporting progress to the Special Education Teacher daily/weekly.
• Maintain a line of sight/close proximity with the student at all times to ensure immediate response to any safety or health needs.
• Provide personal care assistance, which may include feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and positioning, in a dignified and professional manner.
• Implement the student's Health Care Plan (HCP), which may involve delegated nursing tasks such as medication administration, seizure protocol implementation, or monitoring of medical equipment, following all required training.
