Job summary

Alamance County Public Library (ACPL) is seeking a Librarian I - Emerging Technologies to promote ACPL’s digital literacy initiatives and help patrons navigate technology resources.

The role leads technology training, develops procedures for library tech and devices, and presents workshops at branches and in the community. Flexible scheduling and occasional weekend/evening hours are required to support outreach and mobile services.

Qualifications

• MLIS or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of public library experience.
• Experience with computer applications and library systems (e.g., ILS, OverDrive, Hoopla).
• Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Responsibilities

• Learns and teaches library staff and community members about digital resources and technology equipment.
• Develops training documentation, procedures, and policies for library technology and equipment, including Discovery Lab components, Chromebooks, hotspots, and new technologies.
• Plans and presents digital literacy and technology-related workshops in-person, online, and pre-recorded at the library branches and in the community.
• Provides one-on-one help for patrons with mobile services and at partner organizations.
• Acts as the lead technology librarian and coordinates with branch technology staff.
• Works at public service desks and on mobile vehicles, following ACPL policies.
