Job summary

The New Haven Free Public Library is seeking an innovative librarian to lead the integration of emerging technologies into library services, including digital literacy initiatives, makerspaces, and technology planning.

You will collaborate with staff, IT, and community partners to advance the library's mission, evaluate new platforms, and develop programs that increase access to technology and information for all patrons. Some evening/weekend work is required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited program or foreign equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional library experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates emerging technology initiatives and digital services for the library system.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies, equipment, and digital platforms to enhance services.
  • Leads or participates in technology‑based projects (digital collections, makerspaces, online resources, public computing).
  • Develops training for staff and the public on digital tools and information literacy.
