Arlington Heights Memorial Library is seeking a tech-savvy, customer-focused individual to join our digital services team. The role involves helping the public use the library's technology, including the digital media lab and the Makerplace, and sharing enthusiasm for new gadgets.

Part-time position (about 5 hours per week) with varied daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Prior customer service and tech comfort are valued; the job pays $19.95–$24.90 per hour with no benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2–3 years of college coursework preferred.
• 2–3 years of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public with technology in the library, including the digital media lab and Makerplace.
• Provide friendly, patient customer service and help users troubleshoot devices.
• Respond to inquiries and guide patrons in using library tech resources.

Our digital services team has an opportunity for a tech-savvy and customer-focused individual. Requires extensive interaction in assisting the public with technology available at the library, including our digital media lab, and the Makerplace.

Requirements & Skills

• A positive and friendly customer service attitude
• Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to excel in Our Culture.
• Knowledge of and experience working with current and popular technologies such as Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, MS Office and digital media tools.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma required. 2-3 years college coursework preferred. 2-3 years customer services experience.

Hours and Scheduling

Part-time, approximately 5 hours per week. Daytime, evening and especially weekend shifts. This substitute position includes a fixed shift of every 4th weekend.

Flexibility in scheduling is required as this position provides service coverage for staff who are on vacation, ill, and other scheduling gaps. Occasional opportunity to pick up additional hours when the department needs shift coverage.

Ability to provide own transportation between main library and makerspace branch.

Salary & Benefits

$19.95 to $24.90/hour, depending on qualifications.
