Job summary

CPL is seeking a Structural Building Systems Engineer I in Charlotte, NC, to design and analyze building systems on diverse projects. You will apply gravity, wind, and seismic loading principles and prepare detailed drawings and calculations.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 4+ years of experience, licensure, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and analysis tools. Expect collaboration, growth opportunities, and involvement in construction oversight.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
Minimum 4 years of structural engineering experience.
Professional Licensure required.
Proficiency in load path analysis and gravity/lateral design for concrete, steel and composite materials.
Familiarity with IBC, ASCE-7, ACI 318, AISC 360 and related codes.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

Assess gravity, wind, and seismic loads to meet codes and safety standards.
Design and analyze complex structural systems for various project types.
Prepare detailed structural drawings and calculations.
Develop project specifications for structural building projects.
Oversee construction phase, review submittals, inspect work, and resolve field issues.
Supervise junior engineers and support their development.
Collaborate across teams to achieve goals and deadlines.
