Job summary

CPL is seeking a Structural Building Systems Engineer I to design building systems across projects, applying advanced engineering techniques and sustainable practices. You will assess gravity, wind and seismic loads and prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 4+ years of structural experience, and licensure, with proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and design software like Enercalc, RISA or Bentley.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 4 years structural engineering experience
• AutoCAD/Revit experience
• Design software such as Enercalc, RISA, Bentley Structural System or equivalent
• Professional licensure required
• Proficiency in load path analysis and gravity/lateral design for concrete, steel and composite materials
• Foundation design for diverse project types
• Strong data analysis and technical writing skills
• Ability to work across teams and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE-7, ACI 318, AISC 360 and local/national codes

Responsibilities

• Assess interaction of gravity, wind and seismic loads to ensure code-compliant designs
• Research and apply current technologies and stay updated on new tools
• Design and analyze complex structural systems for buildings and infrastructure
• Prepare detailed structural drawings and calculations
• Develop project specifications for structural building projects
• Oversee construction phase: review submittals, inspect work, resolve field issues
• Supervise junior engineers and support their development
