Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations. This role aims to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting assistance, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service leadership, with travel as needed to support bank deposits and store operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices and manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the manager's absence and support opening/closing activities.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for expense control.
