Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer in Training to join the Community Development group on diverse land development projects. You will work with design teams to develop construction plans, prepare reports, and assist in cost estimates and field observations.

You will collaborate with engineers and other disciplines, perform data analyses, and ensure compliance with codes. A Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and an EIT pathway are preferred, with a valid driver’s license and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• EIT designation or ability to take exam within six months.
• At least 1 year of related internship or work experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD and Civil3D experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
• Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.
• Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
• Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
• Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
• Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
