Job summary

VEG for Pets in New Jersey is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front lines of care. You will work closely with doctors to triage, treat, monitor, and provide compassionate support to pets and their families during emergencies.

The ideal candidate has AVMA-accredited veterinary tech credentials, 1+ year of ER or specialty experience, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; AVMA-accredited Vet Tech degree preferred.
• Credentialed veterinary technician in the state VEG practice is required.
• 1+ years in a veterinary technician role; ER or specialty experience preferred.
• Proficient with practice management software and EMR systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Deliver medications and monitor patient status in critical moments.
• Collaborate with doctors and teammates to maintain smooth care flow.
• Perform CPR as needed and support RECOVER program and training.
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement.
• Administer anesthesia when required for procedures.
• Utilize advanced techniques such as central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
