Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Portland, Oregon is seeking a part-time Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You will collaborate with doctors and teammates to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care during a wide range of emergencies.

Expect triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AVMA-accredited degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician in the state the VEG practice is located; VTS in ECC/other will lead to extra considerations.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Triage and treat patients with doctors and team across emergencies.
• Provide nursing care, treatments and emotional support during critical moments.
• Handle IVs, CRIs, transfusions, and monitoring.
• Communicate effectively with team and help shape care plans.
• Perform CPR when needed; participate in advanced procedures and anesthesia.
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection and tubing placement.
• Support anesthesia for fragile patients and utilize advanced techniques where appropriate.
