Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Oceanside, CA seeks a Nursing Manager to lead our veterinary nursing team. You’ll build a culture that empowers staff, fosters collaboration, and delivers exceptional emergency care to pets and their families.

With 5+ years of clinical veterinary nursing and 2+ years in leadership, you’ll mentor VEGgies, manage schedules and onboarding, and ensure licensure and education programs stay current.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician in the state of practice.
• 5+ years in clinical veterinary nursing; 2+ years leadership.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment with odors.
• Night, weekend, and holiday availability as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day flow for the nursing team.
• Oversee scheduling, payroll, productivity, hiring, onboarding and offboarding.
• Address patient care issues and team dynamics with empathy.
• Partner with hospital leadership to align on goals and hospital flow.
• Use doctor feedback to guide team development and maintain medical excellence.
• Lead with VEG values—openness, togetherness, and heroic helping.
• Champion a culture of learning with in-house training and mentorship.
• Ensure licensure, performance standards, and education programs are upheld.
• Drive meaningful 1:1s and student mentorship for growth.
