Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Doctor Coordinator to support on-call doctors during night and weekend shifts. You will help manage workflow, coordinate diagnostics, and maintain clear communications with clients and referral partners.

Ideal candidates have veterinary emergency experience, strong calculation skills, and superb written and verbal communication. This role includes weekend/overnight differential pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency veterinary experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly supports specific doctor(s) for a given shift and may support different doctors.
• Ensures follow-through of department workflow for the supported doctors.
• Collaborates on scheduling of consults, transfers, and diagnostics.
• Delegates team responsibilities (rounding cases, planning and managing diagnostics).
• Acts as point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries if the doctor is unavailable.
• Provides departmental client communication for cases (care plans, Q&A in absence of doctor).
• Drafts medical record documentation for supported doctors (history, vitals, orders).
• Monitors emails and voicemails for doctors.
• Assists with outpatient procedures (bandage changes, radiographs, samples, meds).
• May escort clients to exam rooms and prepare/maintain rooms.
• May mentor or train team members.
• May coordinate and delegate prescription refills.
