Job summary

VEG for Pets is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will support triage, treatments, and diagnostics while comforting pet parents and learning on the job.

You'll work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, handling anesthesia support, IV fluids, and medication administration. This role offers growth through guided training pathways and flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program a plus.
• 1+ year as veterinary assistant, emergency experience a bonus.
• Strong communication with pet parents and team.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage incoming patients; guide to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation under supervision.
• Manage IV fluids, blood products, and medications.
• Support care in outpatient and inpatient settings; join rounds.
