VEG ER for Pets is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be at the heart of the action, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time. You’ll handle triage, treatments, and the tail wags as you start a path toward credentialed technician roles or other vet emergency careers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and your team.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Triages incoming patients and guides them toward care.
• Assists with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Sets up and monitors anesthesia with the team.
• Manages IV fluids, blood products, and medications.
• Supports care in outpatient and inpatient areas.
• Attends rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (provided).
• Pursues advanced responsibilities through guided training paths.
• Complies with state regulations and hospital policies.
