Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Nashville, TN, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team. You will support the clinical team from day one, help triage and comfort pet owners, and assist with treatments, diagnostics, and anesthesia under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty is a bonus).
• Comfort with practice management software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome, triage patients, and guide them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, diagnostics, bloodwork, and imaging.
• Support anesthesia and monitoring with credentialed staff.
• Set up IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration.
• Work in/outpatient settings and join patient rounds.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certification; pursue expanded roles over time.
