VEG ER for Pets in Houston seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join the team. You will greet families, triage patients, assist with treatments, and support anesthesia and diagnostics from day one, helping the team deliver fast, compassionate care.

You will work alongside credentialed staff to ensure continuous care, learn clinical skills, and grow through guided training paths while thriving in a high‑energy ER environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR/software familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Able to stand, lift up to 25 kg unaided, up to 40 kg with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage incoming patients; guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, diagnostics, bloodwork, imaging, catheters, oxygen support.
• Collaborate with technicians and veterinarians for anesthesia and sedation setup.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood products, and medications.
• Support during all care stages, inpatient or outpatient, from exam to treatment.
