Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks an Emergency Services Coordinator to efficiently coordinate patient flow, transfers, admissions, and consultations in the Emergency Department. This role includes initiating and managing air and ground medical transport, receiving EMS transmissions, and supporting pre-hospital communication during crises.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and EMS experience, with mandatory EMT/AEMT/Paramedic/EMD IAED certifications;

Qualifications

• High school Diploma/GED and 1 year EMS Dispatch/EMS experience.
• Nationally Registered EMT, AEMT, Paramedic or Emergency Medical Dispatcher (IAED) is required.
• EMT/AEMT/EMT-Paramedic must be obtained post-hire within 30 days.
• Post-hire within 180 days: BLS, FEMA ICS 100/200/700/800 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate emergency patient transfers, including interfacility transfers, admissions, and consultations.
• Manage air and ground medical transport initiation and dispatch.
• Receive, document, and relay EMS transmissions; support pre-hospital communication and disaster response.
• Ensure timely, high-quality emergency and critical care for transported patients.
• Operate and monitor multiple radio and telephone systems during shifts.
• Maintain and verify transport documentation quality and accuracy.
