UVA Health MEDCOM is seeking an experienced Emergency Medical Transport Dispatcher. You translate clinical urgency into precise actions, coordinating patient moves across inpatient, emergency, and specialty services within UVA Health's network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Virginia EMT certification within 1 year of hire; AHA BLS CPR required; Advanced EMT within 4 years of hire.
• Experience in emergency response or emergency communications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate medical transport requests across inpatient, emergency, and specialty services for multiple hospitals.
• Apply EMT/Paramedic knowledge to prioritize transport needs and assess acuity.
• Communicate clearly with EMS crews, hospital teams, and external partners.
• Manage multiple requests simultaneously with accuracy and situational awareness.
• Document transport activity in real time using established systems and protocols.
• Support patient safety through effective handoffs, escalation, and problem resolution.
