Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Shelter Aide for Emergency Shelter Services in Peoria, IL. You will support daily shelter operations, conduct new intakes, enter data into HMIS, and help meet the basic needs of participants in a fast-paced environment.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Candidates must pass background checks and have a valid driver’s license; experience with vulnerable populations is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Pass pre-employment background check and driving record.
• Experience with caring for vulnerable populations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide program oversight for emergency shelter services.
• Conduct intakes and enter data into HMIS and SIMS.
• Assist in meeting basic needs of program participants.
• Enforce guidelines and provide conflict resolution with sensitivity.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and monitor facility perimeter.
• Document participant information and progress in HMIS and SIMS.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings; uphold Safe from Harm standards.
