Job summary

The Salvation Army in Peoria, IL, seeks a Shelter Aide for Emergency Shelter Services to assist in daily management of shelter operations and service delivery. You will perform intakes, input data into HMIS, and help meet basic participant needs in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will bring a High School Diploma or GED and have strong communication, teamwork, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED; some college education is a plus.
• Minimum five years of experience providing compassionate care and supervision to vulnerable populations.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background inquiry and annual driver’s license check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver services to program participants in Safety Net Men’s Shelter, complete intake materials and assess client needs.
• Enforce program guidelines and provide conflict resolution with respect and understanding.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and compassionate environment and coordinate with case managers.
• Document participant information in HMIS/SIMS and submit required statistics.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings and maintain professional communication practices.
