Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital Emergency Department is a 62-bed, 24/7 Level I Trauma Center that provides comprehensive care for patients with acute illness, trauma, and critical emergencies. Our ED features resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and dedicated spaces for trauma, cardiac, and stroke care, supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical services.

Qualifications

  • BSN required or currently enrolled in a BSN program.
  • DC RN license or eligibility is required.
  • At least 1 year of ED or critical care experience preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • TNCC certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced ED setting.
  • Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Administer medications and perform procedures; monitor responses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, plans, and prevention.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.
