Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital Emergency Department in Washington, DC is a 62-bed Level I Trauma Center, 24/7, delivering rapid, evidence-based care for acute illness and trauma.

As a Registered Nurse in our ED, you will work with board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, and skilled nurses in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on patient-centered care, education, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • BSN or currently enrolled in a nursing program.
  • Valid DC RN license or eligibility.
  • At least 1 year of ED or critical care experience preferred.
  • Certification: BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
  • TNCC certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a dynamic ED setting.
  • Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions and plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement and research opportunities.
