Job summary

Insurcomm Restoration, part of Fortify Companies, seeks a Mitigation Technician in Fredericksburg, VA. You will deliver emergency restoration services for fire, water, mold, sewer, and storm damage, stabilizing properties and supporting clients through stressful situations.

You’ll work on the front lines of recovery, coordinating with project managers and crews, and applying safety, communication, and technical skills to restore homes and businesses promptly and compassionately.

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain IICRC certification.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
• Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong social awareness and customer service mindset.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Teams and complete onsite documentation using a smartphone and industry software (Proven Jobs, Encircle, Docusketch).
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive, solution-focused attitude.
• Must safely wear and work in required PPE, including a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency mitigation calls and assess property damage from fire, water, mold, and weather events.
• Perform water extraction, structural drying, and mitigation per IICRC standards.
• Remove and dispose of damaged materials safely and efficiently.
• Decontaminate, clean, and deodorize affected interior spaces.
• Collaborate with the Contents Division to clean, pack, and store salvageable items.
• Document job progress through photos and notes using PSA and other required software.
• Communicate professionally with clients, answering questions with empathy and respect.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times.
• Set up, operate, clean, and store tools and equipment.
