Job summary

Management Performance Associates is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician for a hospital-employed role in Mattoon, Illinois. The position features three 10-hour shifts (6:00 AM–4:00 PM, 1:00 PM–11:00 PM, 4:00 PM–2:00 AM) totaling 15 shifts per month, with a $475,000 annual compensation and a double-coverage ED model designed to reduce burnout.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board Certification in Emergency Medicine or BC/BE with ED experience.
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license or immediate eligibility.
• Valid DEA registration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency medical care to patients in a 32-bed ED.
• Maintain a low patient pace with fewer than two encounters per hour.
• Collaborate with a second on-duty physician for double-coverage.
• Stabilize and coordinate transfers for high-acuity cases to tertiary centers.
• Work a rotation of 15 shifts per month across three 10-hour blocks (6:00–4:00, 1:00–11:00, 4:00–2:00).
• Coordinate patient care with on-site specialties including inpatient psychiatry.
• Maintain thorough electronic medical records for all encounters.
