Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a part-time EMT to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, assess patients, and provide on-scene care and transport. You will document histories, deliver care within the scope of practice, and coordinate with receiving facilities.

The role requires MN/WI licensure, BCLS within a month, and valid operating license, with a 0.15 FTE commitment and day/evening/night rotations. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), tuition

Qualifications

• State background check must provide clearance to work with vulnerable adults
• NIMS 100, 200, 700
• State licensure/certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher in the appropriate state of practice
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire
• Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health’s insurer
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency
• All Wisconsin location staff must be dual licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin

• Obtains patient history and conducts examinations to determine urgency and seriousness.
• Communicates patient status and time of arrival to medical staff and facilitates hospital handoff.
• Provides care in the hospital setting as delegated by the RN within scope of training.
• Operates medical equipment and adheres to state scope of care requirements.

Job Description:

Responds to emergent and non-emergent calls, assesses the situation, assesses and treats patients for emergency needs; reports patient information to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner. Obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and assesses the situation's urgency and seriousness. Provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with the medical care facility about the patient's condition, status and time of arrival. May be requested to provide patient care in the hospital setting performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the scope of the individual’s training and capabilities. Provides care in accordance to the scope of care authorized in the State in which they are operating.

Required Qualifications:

Driving Requirements:

• Must have 2 years drivers experience (MVR)
• Over 75 years of age require medical permission
• Drivers 21 years and older with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements
• Drivers 18-20 with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements of Young Driver Probation AND will be placed in Young Driver Probation (MVR every 6 months and completed probation form)

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
