Essentia Health's Emergency Department in Brainerd/Baxter, MN seeks an Emergency Department Technician to deliver direct patient care under RN supervision. You’ll help ensure patient safety and comfort in a busy ED and support critical procedures including CPR, wound care, splinting, suctioning, and vital sign monitoring.

Evening shifts with every other weekend are part of the schedule. A Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 1 month of hire, with pathways through

Qualificações

• BCLS certification must be obtained within 1 month of hire.
• Completion of an emergency medical technician, licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant or nursing assistant program.
• Currently licensed as an EMT, NA, LPN, CMA upon initial hire or BSN student with 3 years of schooling.

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct care to patients under RN supervision to ensure safety and comfort.
• Perform CPR, wound care including irrigation and dressing, splinting, and immobilization.
• Suctioning of patients and performing EKGs; collect POCT samples.
• Obtain throat swabs, assist with hygiene and nutrition needs.
• Transport patients between departments and maintain accurate records.
• Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.

Job Description

Education Qualifications

As an Emergency Department Technician, you are responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

Duties

• CPR


• Wound care including irrigation and dressing


• Splinting and immobilization of bone injuries


• Suctioning of patients


• Performing EKG's


• POC testing


• Obtaining non-invasive specimen swabs such as throat cultures


• Crutch fitting


• Ambulation education


• Suture removal


• Transporting of patients between departments


• Providing personal hygiene care


• Assisting with nutritional needs


• Providing comfort care and other assistance


• Appropriately and safely transferring patients


• Taking vital signs and completing record keeping


• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN


• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

Position Details

This position will work the following:

• 56 hours per pay period


• Every Other Weekend


• 8 Hour Evening Shifts

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (Must obtain within 1 month of hire)

Must meet ONE of the following:

• Completion of an emergency medical technician, licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant or nursing assistant program.


• Currently licensed as a EMT, NA, LPN, CMA upon initial hire.


• BSN student who has completed at least 3 years of schooling.


• Currently employee in the SJMC Emergency Department as an Emergency Room Technician.
