Job summary

Essentia Health in the United States is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician/EMS responder to join our Ambulance - PMC EMS team. You will respond to calls, assess patients, provide on-scene and transit care, and document patient information for the hospital team.

Responsibilities include obtaining history, performing focused examinations, and communicating with receiving facilities about condition and ETA. State scope of care applies and some positions offer remote/hybrid options as described.

Qualifications

• State background check clearance to work with vulnerable adults.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700 training is required.

Responsibilities

• Reports patient information to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicates with the medical care facility about patient condition and ETA.

• Care provided in accordance with the scope of care in the State of practice.

Job Description: Responds to emergent and non-emergent calls, assesses the situation, assesses and treats patients for emergency needs; reports patient information to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner. Obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and assesses the situation's urgency and seriousness. Provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with the medical care facility about the patient's condition, status and time of arrival. May be requested to provide patient care in the hospital setting performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the scope of the individual’s training and capabilities. Provides care in accordance to the scope of care authorized in the State in which they are operating.

Driving Requirements

• Must have 2 years drivers experience (MVR)
• Over 75 years of age require medical permission
• Drivers 21 years and older with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements
• Drivers 18-20 with EMS licensure, must meet MVR requirements of Young Driver Probation AND will be placed in Young Driver Probation (MVR every 6 months and completed probation form)

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

• State licensure/certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher in the appropriate state of practice
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire
• Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health’s insurer
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency
• All Wisconsin location staff must be dual licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin
