Job summary

911 Emergency Communications seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers in Medford, MA to manage urgent medical calls, confirm locations and details, and direct EMS resources in accordance with protocols.

Role may require overnight shifts, weekends and overtime, with opportunities for CPR and dispatch protocol-based training. A high school diploma and dispatcher certification are commonly required, with CPR certification highly preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification may be required before appointment.
• CPR certification recommended or required; EMT/paramedic credentials are not universal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
