The role may require CPR/EMD credentials and adherence to agency procedures, with shifts including nights, weekends, or overtime depending on the assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is commonly required.
• EMD certification may be required before appointment.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about patient condition.
• Determine response priority through the medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when assigned.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responders.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
