Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Blue Lake, CA is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to join a team that supports urgent medical calls. You will gather patient and incident information, establish response priorities, and coordinate EMS resources according to approved protocols.

Positions may require overnight shifts, weekends, and overtime. A high school diploma and CPR certification are commonly required; EMT/paramedic credentials are not universal.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
