Job summary

The City of Glendale, AZ is seeking a qualified professional to develop and coordinate emergency management plans, procedures, and operations across City departments and community partners.

You will maintain SOPs, support training and exercises, manage grants, represent the City on preparedness issues, help keep the EOC ready, and serve as Duty Officer on a rotating basis. The role requires FEMA IS course completion within 90 days and a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related field.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive emergency management principles and practices
  • Incident Command System (ICS) principles and practices
  • Federal, state, local and tribal laws, regulations related to emergency management

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and coordinates SOPs/guides for area of responsibility.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and community partners to provide information and respond to requests.
  • Supports management and coordination of emergency-related programs and grant projects.
  • Represents the City on emergency preparedness issues and informs the Emergency Management Director.
  • Maintains Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness and planning for prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.
  • Assists with disaster response and recovery during emergencies and exercises; develops AARs/IPs.
  • Identifies efficiencies and improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Acts as a point of contact within assigned program areas.
  • Serves as the Duty Officer on a scheduled rotational basis.
  • Provides support to leadership and coordinates operations during the Director’s absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Planning: maintains MJHMP, EOP, COOP and plans updates; supports interdepartmental activities.
  • Planning: participates in public safety planning for large-scale events; coordinates contingency planning with public safety.
  • May serve as PSC for large-scale events.
  • Operations: delivers emergency management training programs and exercises per HSEEP guidelines.
  • Develops SOPs for EOC activations and may serve as OSC for large events.
  • Logistics: manages emergency notification system; conducts capability assessments; maintains equipment and supplies; liaises with IT; develops SOPs for resource management; may serve as LSC for large events.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or related field
