Job summary

Maricopa County's Emergency Services Coordinator position leads regional emergency preparedness, planning, and response efforts. You will develop plans, coordinate training and exercises, and collaborate with multiple jurisdictions to strengthen safety and resilience across the County.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in emergency management or related field, two years of program management experience, and FEMA/HSEEP training.

Qualifications

  • Two years of professional experience in emergency management program or project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public or business administration, or related field.
  • Combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in planning and implementing department programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain emergency management plans, SOPs, and manuals for the County.
  • Foster relationships with local, state, federal agencies and community partners.
  • Design and conduct trainings, workshops, and full-scale exercises per HSEEP guidance.
  • Conduct after-action reviews and implement continuous improvement after activations.
  • Serve as essential personnel in the EOC during emergencies and exercises.
  • Provide support on best practices related to disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.
  • Act as 24/7 on-call duty officer on a weekly rotating basis.
  • Deliver emergency preparedness and response training for County employees and stakeholders.
