Job summary

The City of Cedar Park is seeking a Generator Technician to perform inspection, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of emergency electrical generators serving City buildings and infrastructure.

You will ensure transfer switches and generators remain operational, support critical City services during emergencies, and maintain detailed records. Two years of related experience and a valid driver’s license are required; a high school diploma or equivalent is also required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: Two years inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, or repairing emergency electrical generators or related equipment.
• Licensure: Valid state-issued driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair emergency generators and automatic transfer switches.
• Perform scheduled exercise runs and operational tests to verify readiness.
• Conduct preventive maintenance including tune-ups, oil changes, and filter replacement.
• Maintain service histories and documentation for generators and tests.
