Job summary

The City of Cedar Park is seeking a Generator Technician to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair emergency electrical generator systems serving City buildings and infrastructure. You will ensure transfer switches and generator controls remain operational, participate in emergency response, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, or repairing emergency generators or related equipment.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair emergency generators and automatic transfer switches for City facilities.
  • Perform generator exercise runs and operational tests to verify readiness.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance including tune-ups, oil changes, filter changes, and battery checks.
  • Maintain accurate service histories and records of maintenance and testing.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in shutdowns, storms, floods, and outages.
  • Complete work orders and documentation accurately and on time.
